SoE is dedicated to the preservation of all heritage breeds of livestock. In particular we are striving to preserve the genetics of a single male (Billy) goat. Through a combination of line breeding and composite breeding techniques, we are attempting to preserve the genetic potential of Elijah.
Elijah is a Spanish goat from West Texas that exhibits strong Angoran goat characteristics. In body shape and confirmation Elijah strongly favors the ideal Spanish goat. However, head shape, ear shape, and the spiraling horns are indicative of an Angoran lineage. Our goal is to produce a line of goats based primarily on this magnificent animal with minimal outcrossing. At Seed of Elijah we have come to recognize that the seed of this Billy is an important addition to goat herds throughout the country. If low input, low maintainance, highly protective, highly productive, and highly intelligent are characteristics you would like to add to your herd, Elijah is the one. If you want multiple easy births that are strong, healthy, and grow at a respectable rate, mothers that are extremely protective of their offspring and produce ample supplies of milk, or a "Bill" that will meet any threat head on, then Elijah is truly the one.
